Pipes of Peace

I was saying just a few days ago to a friend, that I realise I am paying my way out of mistakes that were made at Hellbent in Somerset, and if there was proof of the pudding for this, it was the Exhaust. It was Loud, I’ll admit, but worse than that, it was ugly.

On a recommendation by my Mechanic mate Andy, I sought out Powerflow, the nearest branch to me being in Belvedere some 20 Miles away, and chatting with Dan there I felt assured this was the right decision. But as I mentioned in the opening sentence, I knew I would pay my way out of this one.

95db at Idle, at the Pipes.

And so early one Bright and Sunny morning, I dropped off the 4Runner and caught the best thing in Belvedere – the Train out of there.

Returning the following lunchtime, I caught a glimpse of the Twin Tailpipes I had specified, and felt a rush of blood to the head; this before I had settled the Invoice of course..

..but looking through photos Dan had taken both before and after, while the 4Runner was up on the Ramps, I knew that I had truly gotten out of this. The photos also made me realise how bad that Ding is in the Rear Bumper – must sort that out..

The Old Exhaust now where it belonged.

Take a look at the state of those Welds. There isn’t even a step down piece, just more Weld, I just shake my head at this kind of thing. There’s nothing I can do about it, nothing really worth saying about it, all I can do is move on from it.

The drive Home was soundtracked with a pleasant V6 Burble, and no slinking into the Driver’s Seat shying away from any offense.

So how much did it cost me..? Enough.. Enough that I know I won’t have to pay for it again with the Ownership Warranty that Powerflow back their craftsmanship with.

Happy Driving, Folks..
